It was an exciting morning here at the house as we all got ready for school.  Sophie just looked too cute not to take a picture!

Reed got to wear his favorite pajamas to school today because it was... PAJAMA DAY! 

And Bo dressed up like Emperor Hirohito of Japan today and had to do a presentation in the hallway of the school.  We did the report, we did the power point slides, now it's time for dressing up.  He made me promise I would not come to the school to take pictures and it almost killed me, but I refrained.

I showed houses all day today.  I really enjoy seeing houses with client's / friends but it can be so frustrating for everyone when the houses just don't work.  We are going to find the right one eventually. 

We all decided to head out to La Cocina for dinner, then we came home and everyone crashed.

On a side note, it's my sweet cousin Wayne's birthday today.  I can always remember him being a part of my life.  When we were little, he would play school with me and Tiffany.  As we grew into young adults, he tried to set me up with a few of his friends.  The last of his friends that he would have probably set me up with turned out to be my husband.  Now our kids are growing up to be friends also.  Happy Birthday Wayne.  You are important to me.

Run-A-Palooza

The kids were so excited to go to school and run!  Bo and his buddies are so competitive.  I think Bo ran 36 laps which equals out to be 5 miles in 45ish minutes.  I can't believe he is in 5th grade.  Can someone please slow down time?

Sometimes, I just get in the mood for something sweet.  I found this recipe on my favorite food blog (here)  and I had everything on hand to make it.  It turned out good.  Bo really liked it.

Wednesdays are becoming one of my favorite days of the week!  Our Heart Group meets here every week and we always have such wonderful food.  This week we had Mexican.  I made empanadas and I let Reed make one for himself.

I love these little hands!

My empanadas turned out pretty good.  I bought the dough in the freezer section at Publix.  The brand is GOYA and I got the recipe from Paula Deen (here).  I tried following the directions exactly and the filling seemed kind of bland to me.  So I added a can of RoTel tomatoes, drained.  Then before I BAKED the empanadas, I brushed melted butter on top and sprinkled them with Taco Seasoning.  The recipe says to fry them, but I baked mine at 350 for about 10 minutes.

This was a story Sophie wrote today in the car.  She has been such a trooper going to all of Reed's and Bo's baseball games.  I love her so much!




I didn't copy the last page because I wanted to keep you all in suspense!  I will give you a clue.  There is talk of a kidnapper, a cop and a donut. 


Today was Bo's last day with the Longhorns.  Bo isn't having very much fun anymore, so we have decided to regroup and try make it fun for him again.  But what a good way to end, we beat the Yard Dogs to win the Henry County Super NIT.  This ensures the Longhorns a spot in the World Series.  We are going to miss everyone so much, but Bo comes first.  Here is a picture of the team with their trophies.

Piedmont Hospital

We spent most of our day here today.  Mom had one of her parathyroid glands removed.  We are so thankful for Mom's doctors and nurses here.  Everyone was so nice and caring. Dad, Tiffany, Lee and I had some sweet time with Mom before she went into her surgery and Lee prayed a comforting prayer with us.  After she went back for the procedure, we all stayed in the waiting room together playing on our phones.  Another source of comfort was having Mom's BFF, Lane there waiting with us.   After only an hour and a half, the surgeon came out and said it was a success!  He actually said it was "simple."   It couldn't have gone any better.  Prayers Answered and Mom should be feeling better soon.

I need a vacation!  Somewhere like Lake Tahoe would be nice!  This was taken 3 years ago at Heavenly, Lake Tahoe.  It was a great trip!

No pictures today!  Sometimes I get so busy I just don't even think about it.  You would think it would be a habit by now.  I had Reed's conference this morning and Bo's conference at 2:00.  In the meantime, I am really trying to get one of our houses ready to put on the market!  We are close.  Before and after pictures of that one coming soon.

It started off being a great day at the ballpark!  We packed our snacks and supplies to be here all day.  Here is the team waiting on their turn to play.  I thought it was really cool that we played at Adams Park in Atlanta and my dad played here as well, back in the day.

Bo's game is at 12:30 and Reed's game is at 1:30 today.  So we got to sleep in and start our weekend off right.  I made Homemade Cinnamon Rolls for the first time and they were delicious.  Michael and I really loved them but the kids would rather have the Pillsbury, from the can cinnamon rolls.  I used this recipe, from The Pioneer Woman. 


I didn't get to go to Reed's game today because I went to Bo's.  We played the Yard Dogs, our arch rival.  This is the team getting their pregame peptalk by the coach. 

We ended up in a tie against the Yard Dogs, but it was a great game and fun to watch.  If you would like to see a really cool highlight film of the game, go here.

Sophie turned in her poster today for her How To project.  She is so proud!  When she came home from school today she said that one of the other 2nd teachers asked her to come show her poster to her class also.

Sophie helped with dinner tonight.  She has a "How To" project due on Friday and she chose to write about HOW TO MAKE HASHBROWN CASSEROLE.
It was delicious. 

I made a King's Cake today in honor of Mardi Gras.  I don't even know why it's called a King's cake.  What is the relevence of hiding the baby inside?  I have lot's of questions about this holiday that I will probably ask some of my NOLA friends.  This cake was very pretty and fun to make, but...
It was not delicious.  Won't make it again.  :(

Happy Birthday Carson!  Reed has been looking forward to this day for a very long time! 
We went to DAC kids.  All the kids played in the sand, shot foam balls at each other and climbed up and down the forts. 

Sophie turned the air gun on Tiffany and Brandon and she was so tickled with herself.

We woke up to rainy weather today at the lake house.  The 8:30 game got postponed to 10:00.  Then they said wait until 1:00.  Then they cancelled all games for the day.  Then we were supposed to check back in after 5:00 for a Sunday playoff schedule.  Waiting, waiting, waiting... they ended up cancelling the whole thing at about 7:00. 

We are having such a lovely time with David, Missy and Maitlyn that we barely notice baseball got cancelled.  We passed the time by going to see Rango.  I didn't love it, but Michael and the kids did.  I thought the characters were Ugly and the movie could have gone without the curse words.  We also had fun playing with Maitlyn.  She is almost walking!  I know we got 4 steps out of her on several occasions!

David also brought his XBox and Kinect. 

I am reading Water For Elephants.  It's pretty good, but a little sad.  I like it because it's about the old traveling circus.  The characters travel on trains from city to city.  It is intriguing to me.
